Who I Am
My name is Shawn Martin, MBA. I am a longtime professional in insurance regulation and compliance, a licensed business owner, and an elected board member of the Omega Villas Condominium Association in Plantation, Florida. I purchased my home here in 2007 and have spent years working to protect not just my own property, but the rights and financial well-being of every owner in this community.
I’ve spent decades helping companies navigate rules, build accountability, and do things right. But nothing prepared me for the level of concerning misconduct, persistent silence, and systemic failures I encountered in my own community.
Why I Became a Whistleblower
After winning a lawsuit in July 2023 for interior water damage in my unit, I attempted to sell my home. But by October 2023, my maintenance fee was suddenly raised to over $1,000. That spike came without clear justification other than insurance related and directly followed my legal victory, raising serious questions about financial retaliation. The following years when construction work began on Phases 1 to 3 from 2024 into 2025:
- In December 2023, I began experiencing major interior water intrusion in my unit.
- By March 2024, the damage was traced to multiple unexplained, knife-like cuts discovered in the entire flat roof area that covers 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- By April 2025, Contractors appeared to remove insulation during construction without replacing it.
- By December 2024, Unauthorized furring strips seemingly caused building walls to shift up to 1.5 inches.
- Owners reported never being notified or voting on furring strips, yet were assessed thousands for window replacements.
- By April 2025, City fines reportedly skyrocketed — over $1 million issued to date.
- By 2025, Regulatory agencies appeared unresponsive, even after formal complaints were filed in 2024.
- Residents, including myself, faced apparent retaliation for asking questions from 2023 to Present.
- This situation is now under review by investigative journalists, state senators, and federal watchdogs.
Exhibits A–AA3 have been formally submitted to DBPR, Internal Affairs, and multiple state agencies.
We are advocating for formal investigation and, if warranted, RICO action — believing the system has exhibited persistent failures for over 17 years.
So, I started meticulously documenting everything.
- I’ve published over 120 videos.
- Filed 9 formal DBPR complaints, 1 Florida Bar complaint, and multiple state escalations.
- Built a comprehensive library of evidence, emails, inspection reports, fine notices, and testimony.
This site is the dedicated result of that ongoing work.
FEATURED VIDEO: “Why I Fought – And What Comes Next”
In this forward-facing video, Omega Villas Board Member and whistleblower Shawn Martin delivers a powerful personal account of the events that led him to document over 120 videos exposing financial abuse, construction manipulation, and regulatory failure inside the Omega Villas Condominium Association.
From a 2009 legal battle to a 2023 water intrusion lawsuit victory, to the escalating retaliation and forced construction changes of 2024, Shawn lays out how years of silence and neglect exploded into an unprecedented HOA scandal now under review by state regulators, financial institutions, and national watchdogs.
This is the story behind the videos.
This is why he fought.
And this is just the beginning.

Omega Villas – At a Glance: Concerns of Corruption, Cover-Ups, and State Inaction
This challenging journey began in 2008, when I raised concerns about unlicensed contractor activity and city citations seemingly tied to Board mismanagement.
By 2009, I was compelled to pause my efforts — the Board engaged a law firm, and I lacked the resources to continue the fight alone.
Disturbingly, the same patterns of alleged misconduct and retaliation seen today were already present back then: apparent suppression of dissent, legal intimidation, financial irregularities, and stonewalling.
In 2023, after being unable to sell my home due to new construction defects, I was drawn back into the fight — and this time, I’m documenting everything.
Since then, I’ve worked to uncover:
- $10M+ in potential exposure tied to a construction project with significant allegations of fraud — including missing insulation, unauthorized furring strips, forced window replacements, and concerns of inflated contractor billing.
- $1M+ in city fines since 2008, allegedly due to unlicensed contractors, and reportedly concealed by HOA legal teams.
- Allegations of retaliatory foreclosures targeting vocal owners or Board critics — a pattern seemingly consistent with suppression tactics.
- Apparent whistleblower retaliation in plain sight: public character attacks, police involvement, and concerns of manufactured threats designed to discredit dissenters.
- Alleged police involvement documented in 120+ videos — raising concerns of officers enabling Board overreach, purported illegal meeting removals, and intimidation.
- DBPR and city officials have reportedly been aware of these issues since 2008 — yet concerns remain about their failure to act despite over 15+ state complaints and $4.85M in questioned contracts.
- Current Board and Counsel appear to have cut off communication, reportedly suppressed owner rights, and allegedly blocked repairs while making unverified accusations against owners.
Financial Institutions Formally Notified:
As of May 2025, key institutional stakeholders — including mortgage lenders, banks with exposure to Omega Villas, national title insurance providers, and mortgage insurers — have been formally notified of the risks outlined above. These entities are now reviewing documentation that includes unresolved safety issues, suspected contract fraud, public retaliation against owners, and a longstanding failure by local and state officials to act. Their independent reviews may result in lending restrictions, title complications, or enforcement actions to protect financial interests tied to the community.
What This Site Is (and Isn’t)
This isn’t just about Omega Villas. It’s about what happens when HOAs are allowed to operate without sufficient oversight, when residents are treated like threats, and when state regulators appear to refuse to enforce their own laws.
This is:
- A public record of alleged abuse, observed inaction, and potential manipulation
- A resource for journalists, attorneys, and lawmakers seeking documented insights
- A warning to other communities: you’re not alone — and this is how these situations can begin.
I built this site because someone had to. I’m not going away. And neither is the pursuit of truth.
