👤 Who I Am
My name is Shawn Martin, MBA. I’m a professional in insurance compliance, a licensed business owner, and an elected board member at Omega Villas Condominium Association in Plantation, Florida. I’ve spent my career helping businesses and organizations follow the rules, protect their people, and build sustainable systems.
But in my own community, I witnessed a system that was anything but sustainable.
⚠️ Why I Became a Whistleblower
This didn’t start as a crusade. I didn’t want a fight. But when I saw the damage, the silence, and the deception, I had a choice: look the other way — or document everything.
And I chose to document.
I uncovered:
- 📉 Years of neglect and water intrusion with no repairs
- 🚧 Emergency repairs paid by homeowners while the Board stalled
- đź’¸ $1M+ in city fines levied against the community
- 🔺 Construction changes (like furring strips and insulation removal) that were never disclosed or voted on
- â›” Retaliation against residents who spoke up
I filed complaints, published videos, and built a timeline so detailed that no one could say, “We didn’t know.”
đź’Ą What This Fight Has Cost Me
This journey hasn’t just been exhausting — it’s been expensive, isolating, and deeply personal.
- 🏚️ I was one of four owners who filed legal action due to water intrusion damages from 2005–2024. I was awarded a settlement, but lost 35–40% in legal fees.
- 💵 I spent over $4,000 out of pocket on emergency repairs after the Board failed to act — and they refused to reimburse me.
- đź‘· My contractors were harassed and intimidated by members of the Board during the repair process.
- ⚖️ I was dragged into arbitration where the ruling went against me — not on merit, but on a technicality — and I was hit with $2,844.06 in retaliatory legal fees.
- 🧱 I witnessed Board members weaponize legal tools, silence dissent, and use off-duty police to create fear at meetings.
All while trying to protect the home I live in and the neighbors too afraid to speak.
📸 Photo & Video Documentation – My Unit
I’ve uploaded a series of photos and video clips showing the damage to my home caused by years of Board negligence and obstruction:
- Active water leaks from the ceiling
- Saturated drywall and mold risk
- Evidence of improper roofing delays
- Contractors blocked or intimidated while performing emergency work

🧱 The Community’s Story
Omega Villas isn’t just a condo association. It’s home to 128 units and hundreds of families — most working- and middle-class homeowners who trusted that their dues were being used responsibly.
But instead, many learned:
- Their walls had been shifted by 1.5 inches without notice
- Their insulation was ripped out and never replaced
- Their windows no longer fit
- Their assessments were rising with no budget transparency
- Their calls for help were met with police intimidation, legal threats, or total silence
🎥 Video Evidence – Community Neglect
The same patterns of neglect and mismanagement seen in my unit can be found throughout Phase 1 and Phase 2, long before Phase 3 construction began. Videos now archived on this site reveal:
- Leaking ceilings and soaked insulation in other units
- Roofing materials exposed to weather for weeks
- Residents reporting damage but receiving no Board support

Some were afraid to speak. Others were pushed into silence. I kept going so their voices wouldn’t be erased.
✉️ Why This Site Exists
This website is a living case file. It’s a record of the truth, the silence, and the fight for justice.
Whether I stay here for a lifetime or move on tomorrow, this story is now public. The evidence is here. The questions are here. And so is the accountability.
